Overview

Jobify is an innovative system designed to assist individuals in finding jobs by aggregating job listings from multiple platforms and utilizing AI to analyze resumes and match candidates with suitable job opportunities and training programs. As the sole product designer, I collaborated with a product manager to develop this system for the Joint Distribution Committee in Israel.

The Problem

Unemployment in Israel affects a diverse range of individuals, from young adults to retirees, across all regions and sectors. A significant challenge for job seekers is efficiently finding relevant job opportunities and suitable training programs. There is often a mismatch between the skills required for available positions and the qualifications of job seekers.

The Goal

The primary goal of Jobify was to create a comprehensive platform that not only aggregates job listings from major websites like LinkedIn, Indeed, and All Jobs, but also leverages AI to provide tailored job recommendations and relevant training programs based on users’ past experiences and skills.

Design Process

Research and Analysis

Benchmarking and Market Research – Conducted a comprehensive market analysis to understand the competitive landscape and identify best practices.

Usability Testing – Performed usability tests to evaluate the intuitiveness and efficiency of the interface. This helped identify pain points and areas for improvement.

User Interview – Analysis Analyzed qualitative data from user interviews to gain insights into user needs, behaviors, and preferences. This informed the design iterations.

Wireframing and UI Design

Focused on a clean, intuitive design that simplifies the job search and training recommendation process.

Developed wireframes to outline the basic structure and layout of the platform.

Created interactive prototypes to visualize the user journey and gather early feedback.

Designed the UI based on the Israeli Government Design System to ensure consistency and accessibility.

Challenges and Solutions

One of the main challenges was ensuring the platform catered to a wide demographic, from young job seekers to older adults. To address this, we:
  • Designed a flexible and intuitive interface suitable for all age groups.
  • Included comprehensive filtering options to help users easily find relevant job listings and training programs.
  • Ensured the platform was accessible and compliant with the Israeli Government Design System standards.

For users without work experience, the system leverages their educational background—such as courses, training programs, and military service—to recommend relevant jobs as well as training opportunities to help them acquire the necessary skills for more advanced positions.

The job search page includes advanced filtering options that allow users to find jobs that precisel match their needs.

The entire site was designed and optimized for mobile use, recognizing that the majority of  users access it via their smartphones.

We utilized tools like Mixpanel and Clarity to monitor user data and continuously improve the platform based on actionable insights.

Conclusion

Throughout this project, I gained valuable insights into the importance of user-centered design and iterative feedback.

 

Continuous User Engagement: Regularly involving users in the design process through interviews and testing ensures that the final product truly meets their needs.

 

Flexibility in Design: Designing flexible and adaptive interfaces can accommodate a diverse user base, improving accessibility and user satisfaction.

 

Data-Driven Decisions: Leveraging analytics tools like Mixpanel to gather user behavior data post-launch provides actionable insights for ongoing improvements.

 

Collaboration and Communication: Close collaboration with product managers and other stakeholders is crucial for aligning design decisions with business goals and technical constraints.
